USA: Protesters crash San Fran Mayor Ed Lee's inauguration with booes and heckles

Protesters demanding the firing of Police Chief Greg Suhr for shooting and killing 26-year-old Mario Woods, crashed the inauguration of San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee in the northern Californian city on Friday.

Protesters stormed the San Francisco City Hall chanting "Fire Chief Suhr" leading to scuffles, with police detaining several protesters. Protesters then crashed Mayor Ed Lee's inauguration ceremony with booes and heckles in front of special guests including tech-billionaire Ron Conway, after Lee was reelected Mayor of San Francisco for a second term.

Mario Woods was shot ten times by multiple officers on December 2, following a police stand-off in the Bayview area of the city. Police claim they shot the victim after he refused to drop a knife he was carrying. Various videos, filmed by the public, were released on social media following the incident. San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr claims the officers were acting in self-defence, a narrative rejected by Woods' family and which appears to be contradicted by the video footage.
